LOOKING BACK ON YARDWORKS
YARDWORKS was expected to return for the 4th year this weekend with more global street artists, bigger murals & additional activities for all to enjoy! Sadly due to COVID-19 YARDWORKS 2020 has been postponed. We all look forward to this epic weekend of street art & culture every year so we spoke to festival founder, Gaz Mac to help us look back on some of the good times! Stay home, stay safe & see you next year!
Let's all keep the bright colours flowing through these times.
GAZ MAC INTERVIEW:
What will you miss the most about YARDWORKS this weekend?
I have already been missing the buzz surrounding the build up to the festival, the whole Crew behind it.
We have everyone from Marketing to Media and Scaffolders to Spray painters, I miss these guys.
What unique features were being introduced this year that hadn't been seen at YW before?
The Railway arches was a huge addition this year. Another plus was a more established Gallery space in the arches, which will still open over time. This can be a great opportunity for the talent we see on our walls to show us some of their finer works.
Future plans for YARDWORKS?
We have so many projects that have been put on hold, we have @peeta_ead (Peeta), a Venice based Graffiti Artist coming over to install a piece of work for Glasgow University’s new Research Hub, alongside the Cobolt Collective who have created an amazing Mural for the Staircase.
I do hope to put on some sort of smaller scale Yardworks event if the science allows it. I do have to thank everyone that continues to back Yardworks Festival, I think we are all looking forward to getting back and putting the paint on our walls some time soon.
