SWG3 celebrates Glasgow International with KAWS billboard installation

SWG3 is celebrating this year's Glasgow International, with the unveiling of a major new billboard installation by internationally acclaimed artist KAWS.

Born in New Jersey, KAWS first gained recognition through interventions on advertising billboards and public spaces before going on to achieve international acclaim through his paintings, sculptures and distinctive visual language. His work has been exhibited worldwide and spans the worlds of contemporary art, design, fashion and popular culture.

The unveiling marks the latest chapter in The Billboard Project, an initiative founded by Jim Lambie and developed in collaboration with SWG3 in 2015. Over the past decade, it has become a prominent platform for large-scale public art, and featured works by a range of celebrated artists including Yoko Ono, Sue Tompkins, Scott King, Matthew Higgs, David Keenan, Lloyd Foster and, most recently, Trackie McLeod.

As part of the G.I celebrations, Jim Lambie and Martin Boyce will also present At The Foot At The Belt Of The Raincoat, a special Glasgow International event taking place at The Poetry Club on Saturday 6 June.

On top of this, Dyke Just Do It – a bold new performance work, will also take place at SWG3 as part of Glasgow International, on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 June.
