Everything you need to know about the Sole Bloc all-day sneaker and lifestyle festival at SWG3 on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 August 2023.
Sole Bloc is back! Following on from the hugely successful event in 2022, the all day sneaker and lifestyle festival returns to SWG3 for 2023.
It's so much more than just a load of trainers though - the festival is a brilliant day out for adults and kids. As well as the chance to buy and sell shoes and give your current trainers some love, there'll be delicious street food, skateboarding sessions, activities for children, music, panel talks and more.
SNEAKERS
The festival is an essential date in the diary for anyone who's into their trainers. Some of the biggest private sellers and collectors from across the UK will arrive to sell and trade rare and highly sought-after sneakers, which can't be found on the high street. We'll also have the usual heady mix of clothing, accessories and collectibles ready to buy from some of the best and most exciting lifestyle brands from across the country.
If you're not looking to buy a new pair of trainers, the SneakersER team will also be on site, offering their sneaker cleaning services, so you can revamp your much-loved gutties if they're looking a bit battered. As well as this, Sneaker Laundry Glasgow will be on hand for you to trade in your old sneakers as part of their sneaker recycling programme.
SPORT AND ACTIVITIES
There will be a ton of activities for the whole family to get involved in throughout the weekend. If you fancy burning off some excess energy you can take shots at the basketball hoop – where you'll be guided by Caledonian Gladiators (and be in with the chance of winning some prizes), or have a go in the skateboarding demonstrations. If you're after a more chill affair, then there'll be graffiti thrown up for you to admire, and a designated kids' play area — curated by the excellent Mini Manoeuvres — meaning you can enjoy a bit of browsing in peace.
There willl be a History of Sportswear exhibition for you to take in. Hosted by Magdi Fernandes, the exhibition will cover sportswear trends from the 90s to mid 2000s, and new for this year, we're excited to announce that Glasgow's Second Hand Wonderland will be setting up shop, bringing rack upon rack of unique vintage clothing.
SCRAN
We'll keep you well served throughout the day with a range of stalls courtesy of Scotland’s favourite travelling street food collective, The Big Feed. There'll be seven vendors across the weekend including pizza, vegan, Nepalese, and Japanese options, as well as fresh gelato ice-cream. There'll also be, of course, a fully-stocked bar, not only inside but also on our outdoors garden terrace. Go through the foyer, up the steps, and get a seat at what is the city's best new secret sun-trap (with big umbrellas, if the weather's not playing ball).
TUNES
In order to keep the party atmosphere going, each room and outdoor area will have some of Glasgow’s finest DJs providing the music festival vibes all weekend.
