Photographer David Eustace launches Galvanizers exhibition

Opening on Wednesday 5 October, Scottish photographer David Eustace presents a portfolio of photographs from SWG3’s industrial past for the first time.

Clydeside Galvanizers ceased operating at 96 Eastvale Place in May 2016. The business left the site they had occupied for the previous 20 years with the enormous steel basins and heavy machinery still in position. Years of zinc splashes and spillages adorned the walls and floors of the warehouse, which in time would become a beloved cultural venue.

But before the decommissioning process and new development works began, Eustace was invited to capture the atmosphere of the industrial past, before a new energy would move in. The resulting portfolio, GALVANIZERS, is a selection of images shot that day which pays homage to the former industrial use of the site — not just 96 Eastvale Place, but the wider Clydeside area.
