We're wildly excited to welcome Patrick Topping and his Trick label showcase to the Galvanizers Yard this month for our first ever outdoor rave on Sunday 31 July.
This July, Newcastle’s own champion of rave-heavy house music Patrick Topping returns to SWG3 with his TRICK label concept party. Although Patrick has lit up the venue many times before — as well as an incredible SWG3 Presents sell-out show at the Barrowlands Ballroom in November 2021 — this all-day outdoor party marks a first time takeover of SWG3’s outdoor Galvanizers Yard.
The former site of the Clydeside Galvanizers, across its 25,000 square feet the Galvanizers Yard is home to our now internationally-renowned Yardworks Festival. We've also played host to some of Glasgow’s best food, art and design markets; screened European football championships; and hosted unforgettable live shows including The xx, Foals and LCD Soundsystem.
For our first ever outdoor rave, Patrick Topping will be bringing a whole crew of label mates and friends including Ben Hemsley and Eli Brown, as well as Scotland’s own Hannah Laing and t e s t p r e s s.
DJ, producer and Trick label head, Topping is without doubt one of the hottest names in dance music, firmly cementing his status as a headline act at festivals including Coachella, Creamfields, Awakenings and Tomorrowland and, most recently, a much sought-after residency at Ibiza's DC10. With early hits including the Green Velvet collaboration Voicemail, and huge solo tracks Be Sharp Say Nowt and Turbo Time, his latest intergalactic-inspired Planet Session EP continued his upwards trajectory as a producer, at the same time as radiating positivity and assisting new and upcoming DJs through the now-renowned Trick imprint.
Ben Hemsley is making a name for himself as one of the biggest upcoming talents in feel-good, rave-heavy house. Having played alongside the likes of Patrick Topping, Ewan McVicar and Alan Fitzpatrick, his 90s-house-influenced productions, including Through 2 You and Caress Me, have been played by other artists from Michael Bibi to Denis Sulta to Green Velvet.
Eli’s reputation in the industry speaks for itself; from 2016, Brown has grown within Bristol’s famed dance community and has gained support from huge names such as Charlotte De Witte, Carl Cox, Calvin Harris and, of course, Patrick Topping. With some huge tracks under his belt, including Love Generator with Calvin Harris and XTC with Solardo, he's also played to massive crowds across the globe including at Printworks, EDC Vegas and Creamfields.
Scottish DJ Hannah Laing has been on the scene from a young age, quickly picking up a loyal following and DJing at iconic venues such as Hï Ibiza alongside Camelphat and Solardo, as well as Creamfields. The Dundonian DJ has previously brought her unique sound to SWG3, supporting huge names such as MK and Hannah Wants.
t e s t p r e s s
Originating from Aberdeen, DJ and production duo t e s t p r e s s have built a name for themselves for their deep house hits and pulsing electronic mixes. The duo has released several of their mixes on SoundCloud and Bandcamp, capturing the attention of Denis Sulta, KETTAMA, Skream and also Sub Club - where they're now residents. Having previously supported Patrick Topping at Unit 51, and SWG3's New Year's Eve party in 2019, we can't wait to reunite them behind the decks once more for our first ever outdoors rave.
