OUR VISION + MODEL

Our Vision

SWG3 is now home to a number of connected organisations working together to keep the complex alive, evolving and full of possibility — all united by one shared vision: To ignite Glasgow’s creative energy and bring people together through inspirational experiences, connections, and opportunities.

So how do we make this happen?

WE BRING JOY through a programme of visual art, design, live music, club culture, fashion, food, entertainment and nature — creating experiences that are open and welcoming to all.
WE TRANSFORM PLACES by revitalising Glasgow with cultural spaces and public art, enhancing our City’s international reputation while improving the everyday experience of the people who live here.
WE CREATE CHANCES for people to create, learn and collaborate – building skills, networks and ideas that support new businesses, experimentation and innovation.

Our Model

To keep everything running smoothly, SWG3 works through a small group of connected organisations.

The founding charity, Clydeside Initiative for Arts Ltd,  focuses on community and creative projects, while SWG3 Ltd looks after events, bars, and day-to-day operations. The money we make from gigs and events helps to fund our charity work, so creativity keeps supporting creativity. Douglas House Security (DHS) and Yardworks Ltd are owners of the site and lease the properties to the charity.

All of these companies share the same goal — to use creativity to bring people together, support local talent, and make a positive difference in Glasgow and beyond.

Previous projects

Yardworks Studio

Scotland’s first purpose-built home for street arts, Yardworks Studio provides space for hundreds of artists to create, experiment and hone their craft - and the bustling epicentre of a new street arts district across Partick, Yorkhill and Govan.

BODYHEAT

BODYHEAT is a radical system for heating and cooling the venue. Using the latest low carbon technology, balanced with intelligent controls using machine learning, the system uses heat generated by our audiences to heat and cool the venue.

Community Garden

As part of our mission to use arts, creativity and nature to tackle poverty, we opened a public garden that is available for the local community to use for planting, creativity and relaxation, as well as a central part of our Going Net Zero plans.

Social Infrastructure

Thanks to funding from Clyde Mission, we have improved public access routes and connectivity at our site. So far, we've installed a glass-fronted entrance and lobby with fully accessible routes to all the facilities, as well as direct access to the public garden.
