The exhibition addresses the growing issues of litter and waste across Scotland.
Running from Friday 27 September until Friday 1 November, Fly Tip Road Trip is a showcase of the What A Load O’ Rubbish campaign - an artist-led initiative that addresses the growing issues of litter and waste across Scotland. Born out of the environmental impacts observed during the surge of staycations in rural beauty spots in 2021, the campaign has since gained momentum, bringing its poignant yet humorous message to diverse audiences.
Curated by Anna Zairseva, the exhibition has previously graced unconventional venues such as a café and a climbing center in the Highlands, each time tailoring its artworks to reflect the spirit of the location. Now, it makes its urban debut at SWG3, to spotlight the city's own environmental challenges.
The exhibition deliberately subverts traditional, more solemn approaches to environmental messaging, and instead provides visitors with an engaging experience filled with sharp wit and humor, featuring the works of Dunfermline-based artist Alan Grieve and Glasgow-based street artist Outr.
The Fly Tip Road Trip exhibition is a unique site-specific show that adapts to the local litter challenges of each place it visits. The campaign’s messaging is satirical, tongue-in-cheek, and laugh-out-loud funny.
